Five Element Acupucture

_______________

In all of ‘Chinese medicine’ ( acupuncture, Chinese herbs etc. ) there are considered to be the twelve internal organs with their associated ‘energetic’ pathways. Along the surface pathways ( meridians ) there are acupuncture points which are accessible so as to bring about a balance to the whole ‘energy system’, the twelve organ/meridians.

Also, in all of Chinese medicine there are considered to be only the seven internal ( five emotions, anxiety and inherited conditions ) and seven external ( wind, heat, damp etc. ) causes of disease in their energetic view of human beings and nature.

Five Element Acupuncture treats and diagnoses according to the internal causes ( we simply aren’t as affected by the external causes in the modern world with central heating etc. )

For instance, in ‘Chinese medicine’ the skin is considered the third lung. But a symptom of the skin may or may not be treated on the lung meridian because to effect a ‘cure’ the original cause needs to established and treated. It is often the case that it will be one of the other organs that is really causing the fundamental issue in the body and that will need to be addressed to effect a change in the ‘lung’ meridian without actually treating the lung meridian itself.
